This one looked like a game until the fourth quarter, when Penn State decided to blow Northwestern right out of the water. Why they waited until the fourth is anyone's guess, but we'll take a road win no matter what the margin of victory. Onto the recap...

A big milestone was reached in Week 8, as Greg went 5-3 to pull to an even .500 on the season. If he goes one game over .500 from here on out, we're pretty sure he'll consider his picks season a success. Will put up another 4-4 mark, and still has some work to do to get his season record up in the .500 neighborhood.
As far as the games go, if you're looking for some good Big11Ten matchups, you better wait until next week. Every contender or second-tier team is matched up against a bottom-half team, so things aren't looking too exciting. But we'd be surprised if there wasn't an upset in there somewhere.
In the national slate, we have some nice rivalry games, as Florida and Georgia hook up in the outdoor cocktail party, while Oregon tries to knock off USC at Autzen. Finally, Texas is favored going into Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State.
As always, we're using Danny Sheridan's odds as our source.

The flu has taken over our blog, but we're still truckin -- just a day behind our usual schedule.
This past weekend was another fun one for the NCAA. There was more controversy over the officals, teams that didn't lose got jumped in the BCS, and, in the Big11Ten, the Buckeyes rebounded nicely.

Iowa breaks our hearts yet again, as they stormed down the field in 1:37 and scored on a slant on the last play of the game to knock off Michigan State 15-13.
The Iowa drive came on the heels of an insane touchdown drive that put the Spartans in the lead 13-9. On third and 18 from their own 32, Mark Dantonio called the hook and ladder and it worked to the tune of 38 yards. We have to give big time kudos to Dantonio for that call. That took a huge set of stones.
Of course, an Iowa loss would've put Penn State right back into the thick of the Big11Ten title hunt, but Iowa refuses to show our Lions any mercy. And now the Hawkeyes' only remaining test is at Ohio State on November 14th. Dammit. |

Penn State went into Ann Arbor today and put up a huge win, smoking the Wolverines, 35-10. Michigan scored on their first drive of the game to take an early lead, but it was all Penn State from there. The Lions wasted no time in striking back and tying it up, and they took over from there. The defense was outstanding, forcing turnovers all day and allowing only three points the rest of the way.
And of course, the team got four touchdown passes from this man:

What a player.
We think this will finally put an end to all the streak talk, as Penn State has now knocked off Michigan two years in a row (once at home and once in Ann Arbor), and they've outscored them by a combined 54 points in those two games. Maybe the Lions have started their own streak.
Back with the recap tomorrow. |

Playing Michigan provokes so many thoughts and feelings, we don't even know where to begin. That being the case, we leave you with this:

Bring it, Dick.

Both the guys went 4-4 in Week 7, gaining zero ground against one another or the fight to get to .500 on the season.
Week 8 features two pretty intriguing matchups in the Big11Ten, one of course being Penn State-Michigan, and the other being Iowa-Michigan State. We know it's (yet another) road game for the Hawkeyes, and Sparty has been hot as of late, but Iowa is getting absolutely zero respect as this game is a pick 'em.
Not much going on for the national slate this weekend, so our non-conference highlight is a matchup of two mid-major powers, TCU and BYU. Notre Dame-BC and Alabama-Tennessee aren't the most exciting games ever, but hey, we need to pick something.
As always, we're using Danny Sheridan's odds as our source.
