The guys both bounced back from a terrible Week 10 to post respectable showings in Week 11. Will went 5-3 and Greg went 4-4, and Will is now seven games back in the standings. Is it likely that he'll make up all the ground between now and the end of the season? No, it isn't. But stranger things have happened...Jim Tressel won a national title after all.
There are definitely some interesting matchups in the Big11Ten this week, and some interesting lines to go along with them. In addition to some big time rivalry games, four of the five games feature a road favorite. Will they all cover? Not likely. Interesting to see who will falter on the road.
On the national slate, we'll see if Stanford can continue its hot streak against Cal, whether Oregon can move one step closer to winning the Pac-10, and weather Ole Miss and LSU can put on an entertaining game (not likely). And of course, whether the guys can actually call any of these games correctly (even less likely).
As always, we're using Danny Sheridan's odds as our source.

Despite the fact that there is indeed a game coming up this weekend, the Penn State news universe has been dominated by talk of the proposed changes in the season ticketing system for 2011. If you missed this news, we're here to get you up to speed. After that, we'll have a couple more PSU-related links for you as well.
The first thing we saw about changes in ticketing came last week in a piece in the Daily Collegian. This article was mostly about shifting the student section into the south end zone, but there are details about the changes to donation prices for season tickets in the article as well.
The Collegian piece doesn't go super in-depth about the new system, but if you want a super-duper in-depth look, Black Shoe Diaries has a post that has you covered. If you still have questions after reading that, we don't know what to tell you.
Of course, there has been a lot of local reaction to the proposed ticketing system. Here's the rundown:
- The Altoona Mirror's Neil Rudel thinks the hike in prices is a damn outrage.
- Ron Cook of the Post-Gazette says people like Rudel should shut their pie holes.
- Cory Giger points out that when compared to other Big11Ten schools (like Ohio State), PSU's new system ain't so bad.
And in the final item in ticket news, Joe talked a little about the tickets in his presser yesterday. Also- and this is shocking- he doesn't want to talk about bowls just yet because, right now, he's just concentrating on the Spartans.
In other PSU news...
-Oh by the way, Brandon Beachum tore his ACL.
-PennLive has a closer look at Michigan State.
-Bob Flounders thinks Derek Moye will be key this weekend.
-Finally, Rittenberg has a video preview of the PSU-MSU matchup. |

Even though Penn State was up 31-13 at one point in this game, don't be fooled; this was a pretty terrible performance. If not for Indiana's lack of defense, this game could've been disastrous. Luckily, the Lions put it together in the second half. Onto the recap...

Not unlike their beloved Nittany Lions, the streak of good fortune in picks may be over for Greg and Will. Both guys posted a terrible 2-5 mark last week. For Greg, he drops back to four games under .500, just two weeks after breaking even for the first time all year. Meanwhile, the rough season continues for Will, who is now 20 games under .500.
There are some solid matchups on this week's slate, inside the Big11Ten and out. First you have the Ohio State-Iowa tilt. With Stanzi out and Iowa visiting he 'Shoe, the line couldn't be high enough in this one. As for the Penn State matchup, 25½ seems a little unrealistic. The only time the Lions have won by more than 25 this year came against 1-AA Eastern Illinois. And while their record is poor, Indiana has given seemingly everyone a tough game this year, including Wisconsin last week.
On the national scene, we have a Friday night matchup between Cincinnati and West Virginia, as the Mountaineers try to knock Cincy from the ranks of the unbeatens. On Saturday, TCU takes on Utah, and Pitt squares off with Notre Dame, in yet another contest after which Pitt fans will brag if they win, even though they've only beaten another mediocre team. Remember Pitt fans: NC State.
As always, we're using Danny Sheridan's odds as our source.

We were trying to think of ways to sum up this disaster, and then we stumbled upon this in the official recap at GoPSUSports:
"Senior punter Jeremy Boone had a career-high 10 punts for a 45.8 average."
If you are touting that stat in your post-game recap, you know things have gone horribly, horribly wrong. Onto the recap...

If we had to circle one game on the schedule every year, we would pick the Ohio State game, no questions asked. As much as we hate Michigan, and as much as Iowa is becoming a huge thorn in our side, no team pisses us off and fires us up like the hated Buckeyes.
Usually a lot of that hatred comes from the fact that they're so damn good every year. Don't get us wrong, they're no slouch this year, but things are a little different than usual. You can see flaws in the system now. They have a shaky, vulnerable QB and Tressel has been exposed as a less-than-stellar in-game coach. There's blood in the water, and PSU fans are the sharks darting towards it.

So much for being .500! Greg went 4-5 last week to promptly drop back to a game below the even mark. Will posted a 3-6 mark to drop a game in the standings. His chance to catch up is rapidly fading.
The big game on the conference slate this week is of course the Penn State-Ohio State matchup, and both of those teams will probably be pulling for Northwestern to knock off Iowa at Kinnick. Not much going on outside the conference, but we did add the Alabama-LSU matchup to the slate, as a win by LSU could really shake up the national title picture.
As always, we're using Danny Sheridan's odds as our source.

Since Jim Tressel displays such a range of emotions on the sidelines and in public, we thought we'd take this opportunity to demonstrate Mr. Sweater Vest's vast array of feelings through some well-timed photos. Click "Read More" to see all the pics. Enjoy!
